survival medical information
Any medical professionals out there?
I have a friend who, a few mos ago, was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. She told me the other day that it recently spread to lymph nodes behind the ear, chin, etc. The thing is, she has seemed to shut down communication. I can tell how depressed and sad she is and it breaks my heart in two..but there’s nothing I can do for her because she won’t let me in. I guess my question is, once it spread to the nodes, what are her chances of survival? She is on chemotherapy now, but Im not sure how that is going. No surgery has been done.
Here is a link with the details. Scroll down to the section on Prognosis.

Your friend may not want to talk about the gory details right now. My suggestion would just be there to listen to her if she wants to talk. Offer to run errands for her or her close relatives that might not drive. She may just want some space for a few days. Offer to do what you can but understand why she might not want to talk too much right now. This will probably change as the days go on. good luck to you both
